SIGMA is a tool that presents weather hazards (such as Icing, Turbulence, Volcanic ash, etc) to the pilots. The service is a real-time weather alerting system which communicates through ACARS and assures your pilots are notified to new meteorological hazards related to the actual route in the FMS. SIGMA uses the world’s most advanced forecasts based on the high-resolution models from the UK Met Office combined with AVTECH’s patented algorithms.
The service is tailored to only apply the parts of hazardous weather that affects the flight and the alerts are related to points in the flight plan instead of LAT/LONG. Warnings will also be issued in case of adverse weather changes en-route.

The service keeps track of the aircraft position and 4D-trajectory to provide tactical updates on meteorological hazards related to the actual route in the FMS. This means the service will automatically pick up changes to the route and present relevant weather along the flight path.
